Webinar Presented with Tokyo College, "Talk to the Authors: The Puzzle of Vaccine Hesitancy"

On May 27, 2021, Professor Gordon presented a webinar with Professor Michael R. Reich (Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health), titled "Talk to the Authors: The Puzzle of Vaccine Hesitancy," hosted by Tokyo College (University of Tokyo). The talk focused on critical scrutiny of recent studies and media accounts reporting Japan to be unusually vaccine hesitant, based on a co-authored historical review showing that many vaccines have been accepted and that today recommended routine vaccines are universally accepted, and suggesting that social mobilization of vaccine-injured victims has generated public and official hesitancy toward new vaccines and represents a significant challenge for Japan’s public policy.

The webinar recording can be found on the Tokyo College YouTube channel in English (original) and in Japanese (translated).
