On June 30, 2021, Professor Andrew Gordon presented at the "International Symposium and Workshop on the Post-2011 Tohoku Triple Disasters: Lessons and their global application on multi-hazards and cascading disasters," hosted by the Tohoku Forum for Creativity, Tohoku University. Commemorating the 2011 Great East Japan triple disasters, this workshop discussed post-2011 strategy, pointing out the importance of mitigating major disasters through the perspectives of multi-hazards and their cascading effects, as well as issues of emergency management related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
